Accor was founded in 1967 in Paris under the name Société d'investissement et d'exploitation hôteliers. In 1983 it merged with Jacques Borel International to form Accor. In 2015 it bought FRHI Hotels & Resorts, adding Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel to its portfolio. Accor is a public company, listed in Paris, London and Frankfurt. It now employs more than 360,000 people and made €5.63 billion in revenue in 2025. That size means one company owns brands that used to compete with each other.
