The company was formed in 1983, when Land O'Lakes, Boone Valley Cooperative, and Farmland Industries merged their soybean processing operations. It now runs 11 soybean processing plants, five oil refineries, and three biodiesel plants across five Midwestern states, and employs about 1,100 people. A merger of three farm cooperatives in 1983 turned into a company that still processes soy for farms across the Midwest today.
