Avalanche Studios Group makes video games, focused on open-world and action titles. Its games include the Just Cause series, four open-world action games; Mad Max, a post-apocalyptic action game from 2015; and theHunter series of hunting simulation games. The studio was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in March 2003 by Linus Blomberg and Christofer Sundberg.
Since May 2018, Avalanche Studios Group has been owned by Nordisk Film, which paid €117 million for it. As of 2025 the studio employed more than 400 people. That ownership matters: being part of a larger media group gives the studio financial backing beyond what it earns from game sales alone.1
