General information

Barclays is a bank based in London, UK. It can trace its start to 1690, when Quakers John Freame and Thomas Gould opened a goldsmith banking business on Lombard Street.

Barclays formed in its current shape in 1896, when twelve banks merged into Barclays and Co. In 1967, it set up the world's first cash machine, in Enfield. Today Barclays is a public company, traded on the London Stock Exchange under ticker BARC and the New York Stock Exchange under ticker BCS. As of 2025, it has about 100,000 employees, revenue of £29.140 billion, and total assets of £1.544 trillion. That matters: after more than three centuries and one big merger, Barclays now answers to shareholders in both London and New York, running a bank with £1.544 trillion in assets.

Currently, there's a total of 902 job openings at Barclays. Over the last 30 days, 982 jobs were added and 1,123 were removed (job postings usually stay up ~10 days before being removed). Barclays is a top-tier H-1B sponsor.1
