General information

Bedrock Robotics builds autonomous systems that turn standard construction equipment into self-operating machines. Its Bedrock Operator system currently works with excavators, letting them dig and move earth without a human operator on board. The company is developing fully autonomous equipment fleets to help address labor shortages in construction. It is based in San Francisco.

Boris Sofman, Kevin Peterson, Tom Eliaz and Ajay Gummalla founded Bedrock Robotics, with Sofman as CEO and Peterson as CTO. The company left stealth with $80 million in funding in July 2025 and raised a $270 million Series B in February 2026. On one Southwest construction project, its autonomous excavators have already removed 65,000 cubic yards of dirt. Bedrock Robotics is an H-1B sponsor.1
