Bloom Energy, based in San Jose, California, provides onsite power generation for businesses. It makes the Bloom Energy Server, a fuel cell system, and also offers microgrids, heat and water capture, carbon capture, and marine fuel cells.

The company started in 2001 as Ion America Corp, founded by K.R. Sridhar, John Finn, Matthias Gottmann, James McElroy, and Dien Nguyen. It took the Bloom Energy name in 2006.
