Bloomberg started in 1981 under the name Innovative Market Systems. It is still privately held. Michael Bloomberg owns about 88% of it and keeps control. As of 2024, Bloomberg makes about $15 billion a year, runs 176 offices worldwide, and employs roughly 26,000 people.
