Boston Consulting Group, or BCG, is a management consulting firm. It is one of the 'Big Three' consulting firms, alongside McKinsey and Bain. BCG is based in Boston, United States.
Bruce Henderson founded BCG in 1963, as part of the Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. It became an independent company in 1979, through an employee stock ownership buyout. As of 2026, BCG employs about 33,500 people, in more than 100 offices across over 50 countries. In 2025, it made $14.4 billion in revenue, its 22nd straight year of growth. That kind of steady growth, in an industry that lives on referrals, says clients keep coming back.1
