General information

Bunnings is an Australian hardware and garden centre chain. It sells household hardware, garden supplies, and plants, and provides services including installations, tool hire, and key cutting. Its warehouse-style stores also host community events.

Bunnings was established in 1886 by brothers Arthur and Robert Bunning in Western Australia, starting in sawmilling before moving into retail. It is headquartered in Burnley, Victoria, Australia, and has been owned by Wesfarmers since 1994, when it paid $600 million for the company. The chain now employs over 53,000 people across 382 stores in Australia and New Zealand, holding 68% market share in the Australian do it yourself hardware market. That makes it the dominant player in Australian home improvement retail.1
