CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center)

CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center) runs co-working spaces that house startups, corporate innovation spin-outs, and venture capital funds working side by side. Member companies rent office space and share a community focused on building new ventures. CIC is based in Cambridge, United States.

CIC was founded in 1999 by Timothy Rowe and Andrew Olmsted, both MIT graduates. By 2013 it had grown to more than 500 companies across 10 cities worldwide. In 2018, CIC raised $58 million from HB Reavis and leased 90,000 square feet in Kendall Square. During the pandemic, CIC set up a new arm, CIC Health, and ran mass vaccination centers. That is a big shift: a company that rents desks to startups ended up running part of the public health response.
