Cinemark traces back to Mitchell Theatres, founded by Lee Roy Mitchell and his brother in the 1960s, and formally began operating as Cinemark in 1977. It employs about 18,800 people. Sean Gamble is president and CEO, while Lee Roy Mitchell remains chairman.
