Cisco was founded in 1984 in San Francisco by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, two Stanford computer scientists. It is a public company traded on Nasdaq under the ticker CSCO. In 2025, Cisco had about 86,200 employees and made $56.65 billion in revenue. In 2024, Cisco bought Splunk for $28 billion, its largest deal ever, moving further into cybersecurity and data.
