Confluent was founded on September 23, 2014, by Jay Kreps, Jun Rao, and Neha Narkhede. Its products include Confluent Cloud, Confluent Platform, Connectors, Apache Flink, Stream Governance, and Confluent Hub. IBM acquired Confluent in a deal completing March 17, 2026, at an $11 billion valuation. That matters for anyone thinking about working there: Confluent is now owned by IBM rather than operating on its own. In 2024 its revenue was $963 million, and it had 3,263 employees in Q3 2025.
