General information

Converse makes athletic and casual footwear. It started as a rubber shoe manufacturer and moved into basketball shoes in 1916. Its best-known product is the Chuck Taylor All-Star, a sneaker that added Chuck Taylor's signature in 1932. The company is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Marquis Mills Converse founded the company in February 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts. Nike bought Converse in July 2003 for $309 million. In 2023, Converse made $2.4 billion in revenue and had about 136 locations worldwide. That means one of the oldest sneaker brands in America is now owned by Nike, the sportswear giant.
