Cursor is an AI coding platform based in San Francisco that helps developers write and review software. Its desktop IDE gives AI-assisted code completions, its Cloud Agents work in parallel on coding tasks, and its Code Review tool automatically reviews pull requests. Customers include over half of the Fortune 500, including NVIDIA and Stripe.
Cursor was started in 2022 by four MIT students: Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark and Aman Sanger. In 2026 SpaceX agreed to acquire the company for 60 billion dollars, a deal that closed on August 14, 2026. That kind of buyer brings resources and a direct link to aerospace engineering, on top of a company that had already reached a 3 billion dollar annualized revenue rate by May 2026.
