Damen Shipyards Group

Damen Shipyards Group designs and builds ships for defense, commercial and maritime service customers. It makes warships and patrol craft for navies, tugs and ferries for ports and cities, and dredgers and offshore support vessels for maritime work. The company also repairs and maintains ships. Damen is based in Gorinchem, Netherlands.

Damen was founded in 1927 in Hardinxveld-Giessendam by brothers Jan and Marinus Damen. It is still a private, family-owned company, run by Kommer Damen as Chairman and President. Damen employs about 12,500 people and runs more than 50 shipyards and repair yards around the world. It made 2.5 billion euros in revenue in 2022. Nearly a hundred years after two brothers started it, the company still builds ships for navies and cities without ever going public.
