The company operates more than 18 subsidiaries in over 12 African countries and employs more than 55,000 people. Dangote Group is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Dangote Group was formally established in 1981 by Aliko Dangote, who still leads the company today as President and CEO. It remains under his direct leadership rather than a separate outside management team.
