Databricks was founded in 2013 by seven researchers from UC Berkeley's AMPLab. It has since bought several companies, including MosaicML for $1.4 billion in 2023 and Neon for about $1 billion in 2025. By August 2026, Databricks was valued at $190 billion, with a $7 billion revenue run rate and about 10,000 employees.
