Lee Hutchinson and Matt Shepcar founded Double Eleven on December 23, 2009, after leaving their jobs as lead programmers at Rockstar Leeds. Investment firm Pneuma Group acquired the studio in November 2022. By 2024 it employed more than 400 people.
