General information

First Solar manufactures solar panels using cadmium telluride, or CdTe, technology instead of standard silicon. Its Series 6 and Series 7 modules, built with this technology, are used in solar power installations. The company also offers ecosystem solutions to help customers plan and build solar projects, plus recycling services for modules that reach the end of their life. First Solar is based in Tempe, Arizona.

First Solar was founded in 1999 when True North Partners acquired a company called Solar Cells and renamed it First Solar. It is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker FSLR and is part of the S&P 500 index.
