Fortna started in 1946 as H. E. Fortna Brothers Inc., in Reading, Pennsylvania. It became a full-service systems integrator in 1992, launched its Fortna WES software in 2018, and took an investment from Thomas H. Lee Partners in 2019. The company is privately held.
