iMentor

iMentor matches every 11th and 12th grade student in its partner high schools with a trained volunteer mentor. The mentoring program supports college access and career preparation for these students. iMentor is a nonprofit organization based in New York, in the United States.

iMentor was started in 1999 by John Griffin, who is its founder and board chair. Since then, 35,948 students have been matched with mentors. 74% of iMentor students go on to enroll in college, compared with 54% of similar students nationally. That gap shows what a committed volunteer mentor can do for a student's chances of reaching college.¹
