Brian Whitmer and Devlin Daley, both BYU graduate students, founded Instructure in 2008. Thoma Bravo took it private in 2020 for $2 billion, after it had traded publicly from 2015 to 2020. KKR and Dragoneer then bought it in 2024 for $4.8 billion. Instructure serves over 8,000 customers in 100+ countries, had 1,466 employees as of 2022, and made $530.2 million in revenue in 2023.
