Just Eat

Just Eat runs an online platform that connects people with independent takeaway restaurants for food delivery and pickup. Restaurants pay a joining fee plus 13-14% commission on each order placed through the website or app. Customers browse restaurants near them and order directly through the platform. Just Eat is based in London, United Kingdom.

Just Eat was founded in 2001 in Kolding, Denmark, by five entrepreneurs including Jesper Buch. It listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2014, then merged with Takeaway.com in 2020 in a £9 billion deal. In October 2025, the investment firm Prosus bought Just Eat Takeaway for €4.1 billion. At the time of the 2020 merger, the company had 3,600 employees and 26.3 million customers across seven countries. A local Danish delivery service grew into a firm now owned by a global investment group.
