Macerich was founded in 1964 by Mace Siegel and Richard Cohen. It went public in 1994 and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker MAC, as part of the S&P 600 index. As of 2024, the company had 616 employees and $918 million in revenue. Being public means anyone can buy shares in Macerich, not just shop in its malls.1
