Northwest Bank was founded in 1896 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, as a mutual savings bank. It converted to a joint stock company in 2009. It is now public, trading as Northwest Bancshares, Inc. on the Nasdaq under the ticker NWBI. The bank runs 151 branches across Pennsylvania, Western New York, Northeast Ohio, Appalachian Ohio and Indiana, with $13.806 billion in total assets as of 2020. That's over a century of local banking, now open to anyone who buys its stock.1
