Kevin Stevenson and Steve Fredrickson founded PRA Group in March 1996. The company went public on Nasdaq under the ticker PRAA in November 2002, raising $50.7 million in its IPO. In 2015, it acquired Aktiv Kapital, a debt buyer based in Norway. PRA Group now employs more than 3,200 people in 18 countries.
