Quip is a collaborative productivity software suite for mobile and the Web. It lets groups create and edit documents and spreadsheets together for business purposes. The platform includes live edit histories, commenting and chat rooms alongside its documents. It also offers embedded spreadsheets with real-time access to live Salesforce data, letting teams embed interactive documents directly into Salesforce records.
Quip was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in San Francisco. Salesforce acquired it in July 2016 for approximately $750 million, making it a Salesforce company. On March 3, 2026, Salesforce announced that Quip would be retired, with subscriptions not renewable after March 1, 2027.1
