It also sells Security IP, including encryption and anti-counterfeiting technology to protect chips. Rambus is based in San Jose, in the United States.
Rambus was founded in March 1990 by engineers Mike Farmwald and Mark Horowitz. It trades on NASDAQ under the ticker RMBS and sits in the S&P 400 index. As of 2023 it had 623 employees and $461 million in revenue, a small team whose designs end up inside many other companies' chips.
