Ritchie Bros

Ritchie Bros, now called RB Global, is an auction company for heavy equipment and industrial assets. It sells used construction machinery, trucks and other equipment to industrial buyers through live and online auctions. The company is based in Burnaby, Canada.

Three Ritchie brothers, Ken, John and Dave, started the business in 1958 when they took over the OK Used Furniture Store and began holding auctions. Ritchie Bros is a public company, traded on the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange. In 2023 it bought IAA, a salvage-vehicle auction firm, for $7 billion and renamed itself RB Global. The company had over 7,900 employees and handled US$6 billion in Gross Transactional Value in 2022. That IAA deal means the same company that auctions machinery for construction firms now also auctions wrecked cars for insurers.
