Robinhood is a commission-free trading platform. Customers can trade stocks, ETFs, crypto, options, futures and prediction markets on it. It also offers banking products, including spending accounts, credit cards and a paid membership called Robinhood Gold. The company is based in Menlo Park, United States.
Vladimir Tenev and Baiju Bhatt, former Stanford classmates, founded Robinhood in April 2013. The company went public on Nasdaq in July 2021, under the ticker HOOD, raising about $2.1 billion. It now has about 2,900 employees and more than 27 million funded customers, who hold $307 billion on the platform. In 2025 Robinhood reported $4.47 billion in revenue and $1.88 billion in net income. A company that started by cutting trading fees to zero now makes billions from the customers who trade there.
