Stephen Hawthornthwaite and Roth Martin started the company in 2012, and it launched in September 2016. In December 2021, Alpargatas, the owner of Havaianas, invested $200 million for a 49.9% stake, valuing Rothy's at $1 billion. The company runs 20 stores across 19 countries and a 300,000 square-foot factory in Guangzhou, with about 1,000 employees.
