Runway builds AI models it calls Real-World Intelligence, meant to understand, simulate, and act in the world. Runway Creative is a cloud platform for generating and editing video, images, and audio. Runway Dev gives developers API access to those models. Runway Robotics is a toolkit, powered by its GWM-1 world model, for training and testing robots. Gen-4.5 is its video-generation model, which Runway calls the best available. Runway is based in New York, with offices in San Francisco and Toronto.
Cristóbal Valenzuela, Alejandro Matamala, and Anastasis Germanidis founded Runway in 2018 after meeting at NYU. Runway Creative now has over 60 million users. In April 2025, the company raised $308 million in a round led by General Atlantic, valuing it at more than $3 billion.
