Seattle University is a private Jesuit Catholic university. It offers 70 bachelor's degree programs, 42 graduate degree programs and 24 certificate programs. Its seven schools include the College of Arts and Sciences, the Albers School of Business and Economics, the School of Law, the College of Nursing, and the College of Science and Engineering. It is the largest independent university in the Northwestern United States, with over 7,500 students. The university is based in Seattle, Washington.

Seattle University was founded in 1891, first as Immaculate Conception Parish School, and was renamed Seattle College in 1898. It remains a private institution affiliated with the Catholic Church through the Jesuit order, and it is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. That history means the school has a religious, Jesuit character that still shapes daily life on campus today.
