Spirit AeroSystems manufactures aerostructures, including fuselage sections, wings, and other structural components, for commercial and military aircraft. Boeing, Airbus, and Bombardier are among the plane makers it supplies. The company is based in Wichita, in the United States.

Spirit AeroSystems was created in 2005, when Boeing sold its Wichita division to the investment firm Onex Corporation for 900 million dollars. In July 2024, Boeing agreed to buy the company back; the deal closed in December 2025 for 4.7 billion dollars. In 2024, Spirit had 20,370 employees and made 6.32 billion dollars in revenue. Boeing selling this work in 2005 and then buying it back shows how much it needed to control these parts itself.
