Anthony Casalena founded Squarespace in January 2004, in New York City. It went public on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2021. In October 2024, private equity firm Permira bought Squarespace for $7.2 billion and took it private again. The company had 1,749 employees and made $1.01 billion in revenue in 2023.
