StockX is a marketplace based in Detroit, Michigan, where people buy and sell sneakers, streetwear, trading cards, handbags, and watches.

Dan Gilbert, Josh Luber, Greg Schwartz, and Chris Kaufman founded StockX in March 2015 in Detroit; it launched in February 2016. By 2017 it was selling more sneakers than eBay. It is a private company, valued at $3.8 billion in 2021. As of 2021 it had 1,200 employees across offices in Detroit, Tempe, London, and Eindhoven. That matters: StockX grew from a Detroit startup into a company that beat eBay at its own game, then expanded worldwide.
