General information

Supercell is a video game developer and publisher that makes mobile games. Its titles include Clash of Clans, a strategy game, Clash Royale, a card battle game, and Brawl Stars, a multiplayer shooter. It also makes Hay Day, Boom Beach, and Squad Busters, and has acquired the game Merge Mansion. The company is based in Helsinki, Finland.

Supercell was founded on May 14, 2010, by Ilkka Paananen, Mikko Kodisoja, and four other co-founders. It employs 890 people as of 2025. The company is privately held, and Tencent, the Chinese technology company, owns a majority stake through Halti S.A. That means Supercell's games are controlled by a company on the other side of the world, even though the studio still runs out of Helsinki.1
