Leah Solivan, a former IBM engineer, started the company in Boston in 2008 as RunMyErrand. It moved to San Francisco and took the name Taskrabbit in 2010. IKEA Group bought Taskrabbit in September 2017, and it now runs as an IKEA subsidiary. More than 200,000 independent workers use the platform across 8 countries and all 50 US states.
