Telesat was founded on May 2, 1969, as Telesat Canada. It is a public company, listed on Nasdaq and the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker TSAT. Loral Space holds a majority stake in the company. That combination means one of the oldest satellite operators is now investing in the newest satellite technology, low earth orbit.1
