Tipico offers sports betting and online gambling services. Customers place bets on sports events, either online or at Tipico's own betting shops. The company runs more than 1,250 retail betting locations across Germany and Austria. Tipico is based in St. Julian's, Malta.
Tipico was founded in 2004 by Dieter Pawlik, Oliver Voigt and Mladen Pavlovic. CVC Capital Partners became the majority shareholder in 2016. In October 2025, Banijay Gaming agreed to buy the company for 5.4 billion dollars. The core Tipico Group employs about 1,800 people from 57 nationalities, and the total workforce reaches over 6,000 when franchise staff are included.
