General information

Trex makes composite decking and outdoor living products for homes. Its decking boards mix recycled plastic and wood fiber, so they resist rot, splintering, and cracking. Trex also sells railing systems in metal, composite, glass, and cable, plus deck lighting, fencing, pergolas, and outdoor furniture. Its SunComfortable Technology keeps decking boards up to 35°F cooler than traditional materials. Trex is based in Winchester, Virginia.

Trex was founded in 1996 and says it was the first company to combine recycled plastic with reclaimed wood in a composite decking product. Each board is made from about 95% recycled and reclaimed material, and the company has recycled more than 5.5 billion pounds of plastic film since it started.
