Vertical Aerospace

Vertical Aerospace designs and builds electric aircraft that take off and land vertically. It is developing the VX4, a piloted aircraft for four passengers plus a pilot, and the Valo, a six-passenger aircraft with a range of 100 miles and a cruise speed of 150 mph. The company is based in Bristol, United Kingdom.

Vertical Aerospace was founded in 2016 by Stephen Fitzpatrick, a former Formula One team owner. The company is public, trading on the NYSE under ticker EVTL after a SPAC merger in December 2021. In April 2026, the VX4 completed a piloted transition between helicopter and airplane flight modes. Vertical Aerospace employed 330 people in 2022. That flight test moved the VX4 closer to carrying passengers, the goal behind its design.
