General information

X-energy designs nuclear reactors and nuclear fuel. Its Xe-100 is a small modular reactor built on high-temperature gas reactor technology, designed to work at commercial scale. Its TRISO-X fuel is an advanced nuclear fuel described by the U.S. Department of Energy as extremely robust. The company is based in Rockville, in the United States.

X-energy was founded in 2009 by Kam Ghaffarian. It went public on NASDAQ on April 24, 2026, under the ticker XE, raising over $1 billion in what was the largest nuclear IPO on record. That scale of funding, right as the company is opening its stock to public investors, marks a turning point most nuclear startups never reach.

Currently, there's a total of 96 job openings at X-energy. Over the last 30 days, 120 jobs were added and 25 were removed (job postings usually stay up ~13 days before being removed). Historically, the median salary is ~$147,500. X-energy is an H-1B sponsor.1
