It offers loan products including Small Business Loans, Working Capital Loans, Equipment Loans and Commercial Real Estate Loans. It also provides consulting and advisory services to help businesses handle challenges.

BDC was established by an Act of Parliament as the Industrial Development Bank in September 1944, and is now a Crown corporation wholly owned by the Government of Canada. It is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, and operates a national network of approximately 109 business centres serving more than 107,000 entrepreneurs, a government-backed reach that spans the whole country rather than a single branch.1
