Chevron is an American multinational energy company. It works in oil and gas, from exploration and production to refining, marketing, and transport. It also makes chemicals and generates power. It manufactures and sells fuels, lubricants, additives, petrochemicals, gasoline, and natural gas.

Chevron traces its roots to 1879, when the Pacific Coast Oil Company was formed. It took the name Chevron Corporation in 1985. Institutional investors own about 70% of its shares, including Vanguard at 8.70%, BlackRock at 6.98%, and Berkshire Hathaway at 6.79%. In 2024 it had 45,298 employees and revenue of $202.7 billion, and it ranked 10th on the Fortune 500 in 2023.
