General information

DIRECTV provides satellite television and streaming services to residential customers, offering live TV, sports, entertainment and news content. Its Genre Packs let customers pick channel bundles like MySports or MyKids, starting at $20.99 a month. Hughes Electronics launched the company in 1994. DIRECTV keeps headquarters in both El Segundo, California and Englewood, Colorado.

In July 2025, TPG Inc. became the sole owner of DIRECTV after buying AT&T's remaining stake for $7.6 billion. The company has grown a long way from its start: subscribers rose from 320,000 in 1994 to about 20.3 million by 2014. Historically, the median salary is ~$168,084.
