Genworth started in 1871 in Petersburg, Virginia, as The Life Insurance Company of Virginia. GE Capital bought it in 1996, then took it public in 2004, and sold its remaining shares in 2006 for $2.8 billion. Genworth now trades on the NYSE. In 2022, it had about 2,500 employees, $7.507 billion in revenue, and $86.442 billion in total assets.
