JetBrains makes software development tools. IntelliJ IDEA is its integrated development environment for Java and other languages. PyCharm is built for Python development. It also created Kotlin, a programming language, in 2011. JetBrains is based in Amsterdam, with offices in Prague and Boston.

JetBrains was founded in Prague in 2000 by three Russian developers: Sergey Dmitriev, Valentin Kipyatkov and Eugene Belyaev. It remains privately held and has never raised external capital.
