Larian Studios was founded in 1996 by Swen Vincke. It is a private company, with Tencent holding a minority stake. In 2014, its game Divinity: Original Sin raised $944,282 through Kickstarter and became the studio's fastest-selling game at the time. Larian employed 530 people in 2025, up from a crowdfunded team a decade earlier.1
